Guardian's Short Course
We're trying to do something new and useful at the Tavistock Clinic for front line managers in health and social care. Many of us working in health and social care survive work by keeping our mouths shut and backing away from the people we work with. So we have developed a short course for Guardians and anyone with a team or managerial responsibility to try to get people talking at work again. We use ideas and techniques from psychodynamic practice, business management and adult education and offer a jargon free and practical approach on how to:
- understand what stops functioning teams in health and social care settingsdeal with bullying and group dynamics
- build teams and spaces where people are able to speak up and to innovate
- build individual and collective resilience
The course is a confidential space to look realistically at the potential for building teams and just cultures using psychodynamic ideas about how to build better relationships with the people we work with.Full details and the course leaflets are available hereWe are running the courses from October this year in London with a view to taking them to Leeds and Manchester in 2016. Since this is a new initiative we really need your help. Firstly by circulating this link to anyone working on the front-line who might be interested in the course or who knows people that would. We’d also be keen to get any feedback on this area of work that you might have - just drop Elizabeth a line on info@survivingwork.org. People, we need your help.
